Serge Savary, Ir., Dr., is a plant disease epidemiologist, formerly working with IRD (Institut de Recherche pour le Développement) and now with INRA, the French National Institute for Agricultural Research.

He earned his PhD at the Wageningen Agricultural University, and has worked on various plant-pathogen systems on rice, wheat, groundnut, and vegetables, in Africa, Central America, and Asia. He now is head of the Plant Health Unit of Bordeaux, France.
