George W. Norton is professor of Agricultural and Applied Economics at Virginia Tech. He teaches courses on international agricultural development, and conducts research on methods for evaluating impacts of agricultural research, including impacts of integrated pest management and of agricultural biotechnologies. He chairs the Technical Committee of the Integrated Pest Management Collaborative Research Support Program (IPM CRSP), a multi-institutional international IPM project supported by USAID. He was a visiting professor at Cornell University in 1987-88, and at the Economic Research Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture in 1999-2000. He held an adjunct appointment at ISNAR from 1987 to 1993. He received his BS from Cornell University and M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota.
