Rebecca Nelson is an associate professor at Cornell University in the departments of Plant Pathology and Plant Breeding & Genetics and in the field of International Agriculture and Rural Development. She serves as Program Director for The McKnight Foundation Collaborative Crop Research Program (CCRP). Through the CCRP, she supports a portfolio of research projects aimed at improving food security in developing countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Her laboratory conducts research on quantitative resistance to maize diseases of importance to African food security. She worked at the International Potato Center (CIP) in Peru from 1996-2001 and at the International Rice Research Institute in the Philippines from 1988-1996.
